Week of May 18th- May 22nd
Hi scientists! Boys and girls, summertime can be a great time to experiment (always with permission from your families of course!). Click on the link below, and you will find dozens of free activities to keep you busy and learning and having fun! Miss you! Mrs. M.
Week of May 11th- May 15th
Hi boys and girls! This week we are going to focus on computer coding! To warm up a little, here is a classic from Google called Coding for Carrots.

Now that you are warmed up, it's time to drag and drop and have some coding fun! Click on the images below to go to your computer science classes for this week! You do not have to sign in to begin
although you can sign up for a free account if you and your family would like to do so.

Hi everyone! This week’s story will be brought to you by NASA astronaut Christina Koch ( she actually reads it from the international space station!).
Now it's your turn to practice driving a Mars rover and exploring some other NASA kids' activities! Click on the picture below to begin:

Week of April 20-24th
In honor of Earth Day coming up this week, I thought how fun it would be to create a roller coaster out of recyclable goods (and work on Newton’s First Law of Motion!).
My kids and I found some empty cereal boxes, tape, paper towels rolls-- but you could use anything! Remember the engineering design process as you ask, imagine, plan, test, and improve your roller coaster design!

Engineering design process-- as we create, test, and improve we expect to have failures- as scientists we need them to learn and grow from! Remember, FAIL stands for First Attempt In Learning! See our testing video below :)
Week of April 13-17
I wanted to share with you all a really cool website called Design Squad Global Build where you select the “stuff” you have at your house, and the website will create an easy STEM activity using the things you have at home! Another website that I also loaded to each grade level page and here is Scholastic’s Learn At Home. You can read a book, learn about science mysteries, take a personality quiz, go on virtual field trips- so fun!! Miss you all! ~Mrs. M. |
Week of April 6th - April 10th
Stem Challenge of the Week
This week, we will be practicing the skills of a food scientist!
Students, make sure that you check with your parents first before completing the experiment below.
